Jan David Zocher the Younger and Louis Paul Zocher designed the English landscape-style garden around Kasteel Keukenhof, which is the landscape base of the present public park.

- 1949-1950
Bulb growers and exporters conceived the spring-flowering bulb exhibition on the Zocher park, and Keukenhof opened to the public in 1950.
- 1950
A consortium of Dutch bulb growers and exporters launched the first public spring flower exhibition in 1950, using the existing Zocher landscape as its setting and establishing the annual show that continues today.
