    Lameroo Baths

    Mayor J. F. Burton opened the Lameroo Baths on the beach on 14 May 1922 at a cost of 2,000 pounds. They were Darwin's only swimming pool until private pools began appearing in 1955, and Cyclone Tracy destroyed them completely in 1974.
