- 1700-1799
Naval prosperity produced the large Hydriote stone mansions around the harbor, including the Lazaros Koundouriotis residence on the west side of the port.
- 1821
The shipowning families of Hydra converted maritime wealth into political and military backing for the Greek War of Independence, fixing the civic memory of the harbor town.
- 2001
Lazaros Koundouriotis Mansion museum. The Lazaros Koundouriotis residence opened as an annex of the National Historical Museum after the 1979 donation to the Historical and Ethnological Society of Greece.
