Timeline
- 1953
The light was electrified and run on power from the local utility, with diesel generators kept as a reserve. The change tied the lighthouse to the town's electricity network and put the older light source out of use.
- 1978
The station was automated and the keeper's post withdrawn after 119 years with someone living on site. Running the light no longer called for a resident, and the quarters at the station lost the function they had been built for.
