Timeline

  1. 1953

    Renovation

The light was electrified and run on power from the local utility, with diesel generators kept as a reserve. The change tied the lighthouse to the town's electricity network and put the older light source out of use.

  2. 1978

    Conversion

The station was automated and the keeper's post withdrawn after 119 years with someone living on site. Running the light no longer called for a resident, and the quarters at the station lost the function they had been built for.
